A Rousing Thank you

Having our monthly meeting early was perfect timing in this gift giving month of December.  In entering the room and seeing its set up with beautiful yarns, one could immediately hear that the sounds of joy were alive and well with exclamations of “oohs and aahs”.   Learning a new technique for our KAL, hearing a bit about independent yarn dying, and viewing a lovely fashion show, the evening was inclusive of everything we love.

Sue, our KAL teacher presented us with the next set of squares.  These squares are included in the theme of slip stitches.  Sue explained how these stitches are formed and how stitches that are slipped create a kind of longer line in the fabric.  She shared with us the beautiful wrap she was wearing explaining that it was knitted utilizing the slip stitch method.

Following Sue’s lesson was Linda, owner of Raveloe Fiber Yarn Shop where Linda discussed her beautiful yarns.  As if these yarns weren’t enough to catch the fancy of the audience,  she also brought young models, men and women, who showcased finished pieces that could be knitted utilizing these beautiful fibers.

A replay of sorts in the form of photographs that were taken of the models in their high fashions will be on Instagram and Facebook throughout the month of December.  [We like to keep our memories alive.]   We feel this a great way to share what you missed if you could not attend our meeting.  Expect one fashion statement a day on these sites beginning this Monday.

I am sure Linda would like you to keep in mind that all the projects you saw in the fashion show were made with patterns and yarns from her shop and many of the projects have associated classes that you could attend.  Linda also mentioned open door policy on Wednesday and Saturday mornings as opportunity for all knitters as well as those who may need help on projects.  We suggest calling the shop for specific information and/or visiting the Raveloe Fibers Page on Facebook.  We also suggest ‘liking’ her page to show appreciation of her visit.

We were then fortunate to hear of Monica White‘s expertise in hand dying.  She explained a bit about the different fibers she works with and how you could get in contact with her if you wanted something specific.  She sells her hand dyed yarns at Raveloe Fibers, another reason to visit.  Please consider ‘liking’ her Facebook Page, as well.  Below is a beautiful head band with accompanying cowl, patterns she has of both.

We, the Knitting Guild graciously thank Linda, Monica, and Sue for their time and effort at making this a most enjoyable evening.  We also cannot forget to thank Susy and Gina for their continual efforts in bringing excellent programming such as this to the Guild each month.
